"A Rose for Emely"
by William Faulkner
This short story is about a life's story of a women called Emely, and how she became to be. In many ways Miss Emely was a stubborn lady, she allways had her way and for some time had a very secretive life. Growing up she was used to getting all she wanted and was a little spoiled so when she grew up it was common for her to not have any manners and treat people badly. At the beggining of the story she was very skinny but that change later on. A dilema that is mention a lot in this story is that her father once loaned money to the city and he made an arragement with the mayor so that he woudn't have to pay taxes but once the that mayor passed away and another came, they constantly came by the house looking for Miss Emely to pay her taxes, but she allaways refused. All her life she had by her side a servant, whom they call in the story "Negro", was a very particular character cause he never spoke but he would be loyal to Miss Emely all her life. Once her father died and a lover left her, she didn't want no more people living her side so when she met Homer Barron, it was certain that he would never leave her side. When Miss Emely died at 74, all the town came but not because of her but more out of curiosity to see the inside of her house and how she lived. When the men started searching more and more the house, they discovered a closed basement door. It was discovered the body of a man, the body of Homer Barron. Miss Emely apparently wanted to be acommpanied the rest of her life by her lover no matter what.
The character I found most interesting was Miss Emelys's servant whom they called "Negro". This particular character didn't even speak in the story but stood out because aldo Miss Emely had done some really bad things, he would never tell a soul and was loyal to her all her life. I think this character represents respect because he allways respected Miss Emely's desicions and would never think twice before following an order. All his life he followed the duty of being by her side and he would have left if he wanted to but he had to much respect for Miss Emely.
I see Miss Emely as a person that only thinks of herself first instead of others. She is the kind of person that doesn't pay any attention to other people feelings. As I read the story I noticed that she was a cold person, didn't express so much her feelings, maybe because she was raised that way. I see her as a stubborn lady to, allways has to have her way. To me she seems like she's been hurting all her life and that has made her ho she is in adulthood. So I think when a person is hurt a lot or other people have hurt the person, the result can be to make really crazy decisions like Miss Emely when she killed her lover.

Article: You Want a Piece of Me?
This article is about the big business that is crab fishing and their meat. In this industry they only use about twenty percent of the material, that is the meat, so it isn't a very efficient business for the environment or economically talking. For food scientist Denise Skonberg, there had to be a way of using the other parts of the Jonah crab. She focuses on seafood and other ways to use it, so she wanted to make a way for the crab shells to be used as a food coating to extend the refrigerated and frozen shelf life of seafood. Her focus was to on another crab called the "green crab" which there is no commercial fishing but she insists in researching more and more so that she can one day improve the state's processing and fishing industry.
How can I bring this to reality? Well in many ways the idea of researching to make something a hundred percent useful is a very smart move. In today's world, the environment is suffering every day so when ideas like this come up, it is very helpful. Living in such a small island like mine, it is critical to protect the environment, something most of us don't do.
